Product Flush

When immersion is impractical, and where the fluid pathway is to be labeled as sterile, Microtest recommends product flush testing as a sterility test for medical devices.

This is the method of choice for devices featuring hollow tubes, such as transfusion and infusion assemblies. Easy to perform, this sterility testing process consists of placing the sample device into a specific bacteriological growth medium selected for products with such small lumens or hollows, and monitoring any subsequent bacteria growth.

Product flush testing lead times require a standard 14-day incubation period.
