Steven Richter, Ph.D, President & Scientific Director
With his expertise in Sterilization Sciences, Dr. Richter founded Microtest in 1984 after a 5-year career as a microbiologist at the U.S. Food & Drug Administration. Under his leadership, Microtest has provided the medical device, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology industries with premier testing and manufacturing support. Dr. Richter received a B.S. degree in Microbiology from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, an M.S. degree Biological Sciences from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell, and a Ph.D. in Sterilization Sciences from Columbia Pacific University.

Marylou Rice, Chief Operating Officer
Ms. Rice joined Microtest as Corporate Controller in 2005. She holds a B.S. degree in Chemistry and an MBA. Ms. Rice also holds APICS certification in production and inventory control as well as being a Certified Purchasing Manager. She has over 20 years of management experience in the areas of finance, human resources, materials management, information technology, and manufacturing management.

Dennis Champagne, Director of Laboratory Services
Mr. Champagne has 11 years experience in regulatory microbiology and contract laboratory operations. He leads Microtest’s Microbiology, Contract Analytical Chemistry, Laboratory Support, and Virology departments. Mr. Champagne holds a BS degree in microbiology and is a nationally registered microbiologist.

Alex Mello, Director of Project Management
Mr. Mello’s 15 years of experience span Aseptic Fill/Finish, Microbiology, Method Transfer, Stability of Drug Product, Medical Devices/Combo Devices, and Sterilization Sciences. He holds a graduate degree in Biological Sciences and is a Specialist Microbiologist (NRM).
